The perfect location:

Sometimes the best location is one that has meaning for your family.  Your home, your kids’ favourite playground, a cool urban spot, or even your cabin!  I’m open to your ideas but if you’re not sure, I can help you decide.

What to wear, what to wear…

This can certainly be one of the most time consuming and difficult parts of a family photo shoot.

Wear what you feel good in! Moms and dads, this tip is for you specifically. If you aren’t comfortable in what you’ve chosen for pictures, it will show. If you can’t find a dress you feel good in, but you rock a good pair of skinny jeans, do that. If you can barely walk in heels, there’s no harm in doing cute and comfy flat boots or pretty sandals.

Layer, layer layer! Layers add dimension and depth. In the summer? Layer your dress with a cute belt and pendant necklace. In the fall and winter? cardigans, belts, statement necklaces, scarves, hats, blazers, etc.

Matching is out. Coordinating is in. And anything goes nowadays! We know your family is together. I usually choose two to three main colors of wardrobe, and maybe one accent pop of color. Also, mixing stripes with plaids and tweeds is okay! Expression is important. We want to see your personality through your wardrobe.

Dress for the weather, and be flexible

It is best to avoid large logos or busy graphics, as they will be distracting in the images.

What to do:

My goal is to capture a few of those great natural moments with your family just being your family. So have fun, play around as you would if I was not there. You do not need to pay attention to the camera, I will make sure I am in the right spots to capture you interacting with each other and will provide direction if needed.  So do nothing, relax, act natural, have fun and the photos will turn out amazing. I will make sure we get at least one shot with all of the family members together and looking at the camera even if we have to do it later on in the shoot with a bit more coaching.

In the case of a downpour on the day of your booking we will be in contact with you to facilitate a back-up date or plan. We will shoot in overcast, drizzle or “chance of showers” type weather.
